Regarding the AMEX card required by HP if you ever travel for them on business...

If you have American Express points, move them out immediately, as it will require multiple phone calls to AMEX and HP otherwise... Immediately means before they cancel your AMEX card...
As part of the program... you have the choice to select American Express Rewards points, which are similar to frequent flier points... while you have a valid AMEX card you can move your AMEX rewards points into any FF (frequent flier) or hotel affinity program... with 2 clicks and your password. That's how most field personnel use their points.

I cut up my AMEX card after my release date, and later (not sure how long) I received a notice that my card had been cancelled. Since I never used it (!), I doubt I had any points. If you do have them, and you stumble across this advice between your notification date and release date, move fast!
