Bay Area – HPAA Spring Networking Event – Tuesday, May 13, 5:30 to 8:00 pm at Michael's Shoreline. Free appetizers courtesy of HP alum Bruce Karney of SolarCity; no-host bar. Bay Area – Tribute to Jim Gray – Saturday, May 31, UC Berkeley. The IEEE Computer Society, ACM, and UC-Berkeley join Jim's family and colleagues in a tribute to the legendary computer science pioneer, missing at sea since Jan. 28, 2007. Many of us remember Jim from our Tandem days. Free. All welcome; registration required for technical sessions. Speakers include Gordon Bell, David Vaskevitch and Rich Rashid from Microsoft, John Nauman, David DeWitt and more.

Use LinkedIn.
There are now 2,700 HPAA members in the HP Alumni group on LinkedIn, the leading professional networking site.
Two easy steps to join:
1. Check that the email address you use for your HPAA membership is shown as either a primary or secondary address on your LinkedIn account. Be sure that the addresses are marked "Confirmed" by LinkedIn. To check your account, go here http://www.linkedin.com/secure/settings?emadd=
If you don't have a free account on LinkedIn, click "Join Today" at the upper right of that page.
2. Once you are sure that the email address you use for your HPAA membership is confirmed at LinkedIn, go to http://www.linkedin.com/e/gis/16/6A04266B1171 to accept the pre-approved invitation that has been set up for all HPAA members by Jim Schrempp.

You can set up alerts on news stories, websites, and/or blogs. You'll need to experiment a little to get the hits that you want.
Use "OR" (in caps) and parentheses. This expression finds all four combinations:
(Ledward OR Led) (Ka'apana OR Kaapana)
Use the minus sign to delete false hits. This one eliminate hits from a useless site:
