How to get a username for this site
From HPAlumnipedia
Certain pages on this site – marked (members only) – are available only to members of the Hewlett-Packard Alumni Association.
With a username and password for the HPAlumnipedia site, HPAA members can read the private pages, edit the private pages, and add new pages.
This site has a separate password system because this site is independent of the system that hosts the HPAA forums and email distribution lists on Yahoo Groups.
Your username for this site is your real name (John Smith) – not your Yahoo ID or screen name (smith_95125) or your email address (smith95125@hotmail.com). This is a professional site where members can edit the content.
If you are not already a member of the HPAA
To get a username and password for this site – the HPAlumnipedia – you must first be a member of the Hewlett-Packard Alumni Association.

If you are directly receiving issues of HP Alumni News twice a month – or receiving other emails with [HPAA... ] at the beginning of the subject line – you are already a member of the HP Alumni Association. However, a separate username and password are required for full access to this separate site.
HPAA members: You may already have a username for this site
If you left HP and joined the HPAA since October 2007, our volunteer membership team automatically set up a username and password on this site for you.
Click the "Log In" link at the top of this page, enter your your real name – capitalized, with a space between each word – John Smith – and click the "E-mail a new temporary password" button.
If that username is already set up, the system will send an email entitled "Password reminder from HPAlumnipedia" to the email address you used to join the HPAA. You can either sign in with your old password or use the newly assigned temporary random password to sign in and change your permanent password.
If you get this error message: "Username not found" or if you don't receive the password reminder email, you need to request a username.
HPAA members: To get a username for this site
Step 1. Sign on to the email account that you use for your HPAA membership.
It must be the same account that you use for your HPAA subscriptions so that we can verify your membership.
(Note for Hotmail and MSN users: If a scissors, clipboard, and other buttons are shown at the top of the message area while you are composing your message, you must temporarily turn Microsoft's "Rich Text" mode off. Click Tools, then click Rich-Text Editor OFF. Otherwise, your request will not reach us.)
Step 2. Create a message with both of these email addresses in the "To" list...
(To ensure that your email makes it through the spam filters, please send to both addresses. Most email systems will take a comma between "To" addresses; some require a semicolon. Do not use the "cc" or "bcc" lists.)
hp_alumni_requests@yahoogroups.com,
hp_alumni_membership@yahoo.com
Step 3. In the subject line of your message...
...please put your full name.
Step 4. Please provide the following information in this order in the email:
Name (first and last separated by a space)
Email address of your HPAA membership
For example:
To: hp_alumni_requests@yahoogroups.com, hp_alumni_membership@yahoo.com
From: "John Smith" <johnsmith@whatevermail.com>
Subject: John Smith
John Smith
johnsmith@whatevermail.com
Here's what happens next:
- Our volunteer team will verify your HPAA membership and set up your username – typically within a few hours.
- You will then receive a message entitled "Your temporary HPAlumnipedia password" notifying you that your HPAlumnipedia site username has been set up. The username will be of the form "John Smith" – with a space between first and last names. The message will supply a temporary randomly-generated password.
- When you first log in, the system will prompt you to change the temporary random password to your desired password. You are now able to edit the HPAlumnipedia. The HPAA Membership and Posting Agreement applies. (You must have cookies enabled to log in to the HPAlumnipedia site.)
