Wide-Area Organizations

HP Benefits Center

Members report that you can't always depend on verbal answers from the HP Benefits Center. These topics are just too complicated. The best source is the Benefits Handbook, which is online. After you log in, select "Benefits Manual" in the light blue bar near the top of the page.

HP Alumni Association

Cory Chan, Jul 2002:

...the following group is exclusively for ex-HPites. One may keep in touch with others after his/her separation from HP... www.hpalumni.org

Alan Silverstein:

I've personally found the daily email digest from this group quite worthwhile. Note: Yahoo signup/login is required if you want more than just emails.

This page on the HPAA website lists many contact points for HP.

Local Organizations

Here are examples from one part of the country (northern Colorado). You should search out similar organizations in your own area... Perhaps even revise this page and add them here.

High Tech Network

Meanwhile, in Northern Colorado, the High Tech Network (HTN) meets monthly on the fourth Thursday morning, and can be valuable to attend. (Might have merged into the Northern Colorado Technology Roundtable?) For current information write to hightechnetwork-owner@linden.fortnet.org.

Kathy Miner, Nov 2002:

Tell your HP/Agilent expatriate friends that they can subscribe by sending a message to: majordomo@fortnet.org with the following line in the message:
subscribe hightechnetwork

NoCoNet

The HTN spun off NoCoNet, which has this mission statement:

NoCoNet is a forum for Northern Colorado professionals who need to find jobs and advance their careers. NoCoNet is an active, supportive, and participatory volunteer group. Members share leads, sharpen re-employment search methods, build resume and interviewing skills, and network with others.

NoCoNet is not an employment agency, search firm, or outplacement service.
(end quote)

(NoCoNet meets weekly on Monday mornings.)

Colorado Technology Roundtable

Also, while this is not an alumni association, the Northern Colorado Technology Roundtable, sponsored by the Fort Collins Virtual Business Incubator, meets monthly on the third Thursday, 8-10 am, at Home State Bank on Mountain. These meetings are directed at small business owners, with various appropriate agendas such as, "Angel Financing", but include a lot of good networking. To participate, email Kathy Kregel.
