Alan Silverstein, Jul 2006:
I was told, "Addison Avenue FCU began offering access to an HP Employee Purchase Program to its members." HP product discounts
Curt Gowan, Mar 2003:
Many of us need to find a safe short-term or long-term home for retirement and severence money. If you use credit unions, be aware that you are no longer limited to your employer's credit union -- and that the rates and terms for deposits, credit cards, loans, and checking vary dramatically.
Credit Unions are chartered to serve a "Field of Membership"...
- Geography. Check the yellow pages and this site to find CUs for your area.
- Affiliations. Alumni associations often link to the university employee CU. Non-profits, such as public TV stations and churches often link to CUs. (AARP and IEEE do not.)
With online, mail, fax, and phone access, a CU need not be local.
Be sure to check US Government insurance status of a CU at this website. (One CU displayed the NCUA logo but was switching to private insurance!)
Before you go in, call the branch manager and ask about new-member deals and account tie-ins (such as +0.25% on CDs for a $50 checking account!) that may not show up on the Website.
Curt Gowan, Apr 2004:
HPAA members may join Addison Avenue even if not a member while at HP. Addison Avenue offers medical and other insurance programs. (hpalumni.org/financial.htm)
